Since the conflict in the Middle East has escalated, many soldiers from different parts of the world have been sent to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran. This means that for many soldiers, going home for the holidays is impossible. But for one US solider, receiving a box of candy for Christmas from a class of sixth grade students was a dream come true.
Dana Fergins, who teaches history to sixth grade students had heard about a solider who missed having candy and other luxuries that he couldn’t have while stationed in Qatar. Fergins decided she would teach her students more about the region and the soldiers who were stationed there by communicating with the soldier via email. The students asked the soldier what he wanted for the holiday. He gave them a list of candy items and they sent out a care package.

Blog: Classic UGG Boots

Knit Classics – There are two new knit boots introduced to the Classics lineup this year from ugg boots sale Australia – the Argyle Knit and the Classic Stripe. My personal favorite of these two boots is the Argyle with a sort of a “fisherman sweater” look to them, very romantic and versatile enough to go with anything. For those who might be shopping or browsing these classic boots, here are the versions available as of the fall and winter seasons 2009 and 2010 from UGG Australia:
Classic Tall – This is the style mostly worn by women and are the perfect footwear for winter. They look great with a pair of “skinny” jeans – tucked in to the Classic Uggs Mini Boots for a fun and very stylish winter look.Classic Short – This style is loved by both women and girls and has a great look either with pants tucked in or worn outside the boot.Bailey Button – This is a new version of the classic. They have an opening on one side with a traditional Women’s UGG Classic Tall Boots Australia wood button fastening to add just a touch of flair. This style has some real promise of being one of the new favorites for women this season.Classic Cardy – A lovely crochet knit boot with much versatility and style. They have a romantic soft look and are available in quite a few colors for both women and girls.Crochet Classic – As far as I can tell, this boot is no longer being produced but can still be found for women and girls in certain places online. UGG Gypsy Sandal too have a bit of versatility to them, being able to be worn up the leg or pushed down for a slouchy look.

blog:American Apparel Upgrades Using Microsoft Technology

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

T-shirt manufacturer American Apparel is the largest US based company that produces clothing without relying on outsourcing. The company has an 800,000 square foot facility in Los Angeles, California that cuts out patterns and sews fabric to create full lines of men’s, women’s, children’s, and pet clothing. With 14 distributors and over one hundred retail locations worldwide, the company was in need of an upgrade to its manufacturing and communication software in order to remain competitive with companies who outsource parts of their manufacturing to other countries.
American Apparel decided to use Microsoft Dynamics AX provided by Sunrise Technologies, which is owned by Microsoft.

“We chose Dynamics AX over several other ERP systems for its flexibility, scalability, and wide breadth of functionality. We liked the roadmap presented to us by Microsoft as well as their official support of partners devoted to providing industry specific solutions. The team at Sunrise Technologies showed deep industry knowledge and was always willing to back up their promises with detailed demonstrations, creating confidence and enthusiasm in our users. We believe that AX will be a cost effective platform to further streamline our business and support future growth,” said America Apparel’s IT Director, Jeff Kolb.

blog:Clothing Line Celebrates many Heritages

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

For clothing designer Winston Jack, designing his new clothing line ‘Cool Heritage’ means more than creating T-Shirts and other items for men and women, it is also a celebration of different cultures. “Your colour is your heritage. It encompasses all nations. When you look at the Color Heritage Collection you will notice the heritage themes and motifs. You will see the Caribbean, reggae, world music, as well as the American influence. It’s a cultural, conscious clothing line. Also, the red, green and gold colour combination is very popular and will always be a staple colour palate within the line,” said Haile M WoldeAmlak, a representative for ‘Cool Heritage’.
Winston, who moved to the US from Trinidad at an early age, began his design career in screen printing. After showing off his designs at the National Association of Men’s Sportwear Buyers, he was hired by US East Sportswear Company and eventually by Rocawear. Winston has helped dressed many famous musicians and performers such as rapper Jay Z.

blog:Johnny Cupcake T-Shirts Soar

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Johnny Cupcake also known as John Earle has successfully started his own t-shirt and sweatshirt business with the brand name, Johnny Cupcake. The Boston Globe reports that Johnny Cupcake is making a great impact on the t-shirt and sweatshirt business. These cupcake themed shirts take pop culture and place cupcakes on them. Sara Mason of The Boston Globe points out two examples, a t-Shirt that reads “Make Cupcakes Not War” and a sweatshirt that has a cupcake baker cartoon printed on it.
John Earle graduated high school in 2000 and went to college right after graduation. After only a few days, he decided that his ADD (Attention Deficient Disorder) prevented him from concentrating and that college just wasn’t a good fit for him. He then went on to work some odd jobs. One of his co-workers gave him the nickname, Johnny Cupcakes and Earle decided to make some t-shirts with the cupcake theme. The shirts were such a hit that people asked him to make them one. That was just the beginning, he began selling them out of the trunk of his car and was able to make enough money to quit his odd jobs and start selling full time.

blog:August London Retail Sales Figures Are Encouraging

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

After several bleak months when retail sales including fashion and durable goods have indicated declines in consumer spending from month to month for the last several months, it was refreshing to see a glimmer of hope. Retail sales reported in August 2008 for central London showed a like-for-like comparison increase of 8.2%. That was good news after several months of decline which led High Street and government monitors to wonder if consumers would continue to cut back their household budgets.
The 8.2% was less than the increase reported a year ago in August 2007. Last August there was a like-for-like increase of 9.8% in central London retail sales. The 8.2% may not be as high as that reported a year ago August, but it is higher than the 1.0% decline reported for the whole of the United Kingdom.

Fashion and beauty are two things that never lose their appeal even in difficult economic conditions. The UK has been working diligently to promote its fashion industry over the last few years. The economic crisis has slowed down the promotional efforts, but it has not stopped the need for continuing efforts to gain global recognition for the UK fashion industry. blog:My naughty Son

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I have a naughty son , sometimes his behaviour is causing me a lot of problems . For example, he put her mother’s slipper on the top of my head this morning. Even though the time in the morning was so precious that I could not afford to waste it . I controlled myself to wash my head .
Then he began to draw some pictures on his thigh . My mother had to wipe them with a towel quickly . Because it was time for him to go to school .
Although his eye swelled with (for)some reason, he was reluctant to take medicine . He had accepted them until he mirrored by himself and found his eye was really swollen.(He rejected his mother’s advice until he saw himself in the mirror and found his eye was really swollen)
He had (has )scribbled on my dear notebooks at times. How to teach him was (is)a difficult for me. If I beated (beat him)frequently , this method would be useless in the end .I hope some readers have good ideas to help me.
On another occasion, the alarm clock went off at midnight . oh ,my god , it was my little son who had reset the alarm clock . The next morning , he asked me whether I was woken up by the alarm clock.

Then I asked him to give his leader’s(supervisor’s) phone call.
” oh,my leader was off duty.”
“If there was the most important events happened suddenly, such as someone drowned, who was the first (right)man I should report to (look for)? ”
“The vice president was being on(was beside the swimming pool) the beside of swimming pool .you could tell him.”
I quickly went to upstair to search the vice president and told my an urgent request for sitting.
He said that we would try our best to solve such(a ) tough nut tomorrow.
I had no choice and wanted to sit beside the swimming pool. I was forbidden (to do so)from doing by the old man . I was very angry. When his fingers pointed at me, I held his arms tightly . When the physical fighting would happen(the physical fighting was about to happen) ,several people help mediate.
Finally ,the vice president help(helped) me find a proper seat.
